Why subscribe to East Point Local?

I’ve lived in East Point – twice. What’s bothered me throughout is the lack of a reliable news outlet serving our community. So much is happening, from a resurgence downtown to public safety and infrastructure challenges and development concerns. Yet there’s no one telling these local stories and profiling the local people making a difference.

I hope to change that with East Point Local.

My plan was to get the word out, gather subscribers and build an audience through Spring before launching a weekly newsletter. Then coronavirus happened.

That’s pushed me to throw this thing in drive and hit the gas pedal now. Initially, it’ll focus on the impact of coronavirus on the city. But as the audience grows, I’ll settle into a routine and push out a weekly newsletter.

I’m a career journalist, so you can expect me to bring those qualities to East Point Local. I’m also the founder of Project Q Atlanta, an LGBTQ news site I launched in 2008. That’s my fulltime gig.

Please subscribe, enjoy the posts and let me know if you’ve got an idea for East Point Local or a story you’d like to see covered (matt@eplocal.news).
