How can East Point address racial equity and police reform? A live Q&A on Thursday.
Join us Thursday @ noon with Mayor Deana Holiday Ingraham, activist Lacie Pierre and the NAACP's Richard Rose.
The calls for racial justice and police reform – voiced in countless protests and marches across metro Atlanta in recent weeks – are also being heard in East Point. How is the city responding?
The ongoing activism has spurred the creation of a new social justice group in East Point, energized a branch of the nation’s oldest and largest civil rights organization – headquartered in East Point – and found an advocate in the city’s progressive mayor.
On Thursday, we’ll dig into the calls for racial justice and police reform with Mayor Deana Holiday Ingraham, Lacie Pierre of the East Point Step Up Coalition and Richard Rose, president of the Atlanta NAACP. We’ll discuss the coalition’s calls for reform that came out of its June 12 march to City Hall, Ingraham’s efforts to engage the community in reviewing the police department’s use of force policies and the NAACP’s push for racial equity and voting reforms. We’ll also answer your questions.
Join us Thursday for the inaugural episode of East Point Live, a new virtual Q&A series from East Point Local. The event is free but registration is required.
Can’t make the event on Thursday? Register and we’ll share a recording of the conversation that you can replay later.
